Congratulations to Dr. Shapiro’s lab for two recent grants from the Department of Defense to examine the immune and vascular-immune mechanisms of increased Alzheimer’s disease (AD) susceptibility after traumatic brain injury (TBI).

They target specific B and T cell subsets to determine how they contribute to AD pathogenesis after TBI. They also manipulate immune extravasation signals to elucidate the role of vascular-immune interactions in TBI-related exacerbation of AD pathology.
